Germantown Roof Soft Wash
Client reached out to the mid-south’s roof soft wash experts - East Memphis Home Services - to remove a heavy accumulation of organic growth on their asphalt shingles. With the proper equipment (low pressure soft wash) and detergents (biodegradable soaps), East Memphis Home Services was able to restore the client’s shingles to a like new condition.
The removal of the organic growth is important to keep the shingles intact for as long as possible - a shingle infected with gloecapsamagma (the thick black streaks noticed on roofs) has a shortened life span due mostly to premature degranulation. The gloecapsamagma feeds on the limestone in the shingles which then causes them to lose the asphalt granules which no longer reflect the sun’s rays. Without the granules and their reflective properties, the sun’s rays quickly ruin the shingles’ fiberglass bases.
Secondarily, the client’s roof will absorb heat instead of reflect it which in turn will lead to a higher temp inside the home and increased utilities consumption.
Both are reasons to ensure your roof is always clean and washed and your shingles are functioning as intended.
